CISCO NETWORKING

Program Description

The CISCO Computer Networking program will prepare students for entry-level positions as computer service/repair technicians. Students will learn about computer hardware components and the networking software used to connect them, as well as gain hands-on experience installing and configuring networks. This program will help prepare individuals to take the qualifying examination, which may lead to certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Instructional Topics:

• Computer hardware/software, electricity and network terminology
• Basic networking and structured cabling
• System files and management
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting network performance and security
• Safety and preventative maintenance
• Configuration of routers and switches
• Issues related to data communications and networking technologies, such as the OSI model, network topologies, protocols including TCP/IP and the fundamentals of internetworking

Earn College Credit

In addition to the high school credits, students can earn the following college credits with these institutions.
